Elephants of Sumatra - Bona Training

Bona Training

Bona Training From an early age after Bona's rescue and rehab it was important for her to undergo training to be a part of the elephant camp family. There was no opportunity to re-release her to another wild herd after her entire family ate poison laced fruit placed around the palm oil plantations. So this now is her life inside the elephant camp of PLG Seblat. Training consists of learning simple commands to help her in future camp life and keep everyone safe while she is looked after. A mahout keeps Bona’s surrogate mother Aswita busy with fruit treats while Bona gets used to being directed and understanding simple commands like stop and go.
