Bona and Aswitas Chains Bona not knowing the life of chains for captive elephants in Sumatra. At this age Bona wants to wander and explore but her surrogate mother being chained cannot follow. So Bona's instinct is to claw at the chains to try and free Aswita. Even at such a young age a baby elephant is showing problem solving skills. Elephants are an extremely intelligent species and it really shows in this photo.
